About IAIRN
The Inclusive AI Research Network (IAIRN) is a global research network that connects data scientists, researchers, and activists to conduct applied, feminist artificial intelligence research.
The network was created with the goal of supporting community-driven innovation and ground-up development of inclusive and human-centred AI technologies. In doing so, IAIRN aims to contribute to rectifying the biases and correcting inequities that are often reproduced and exacerbated by AI technologies, particularly towards women, youth and other marginalised groups. The network focuses on building scalable AI technologies that address local challenges with inclusion at the core of design, development and deployment.
The project will function through a global hub, hosted by the Feminist Internet Research Network (FIRN), four regional hubs in South and South East Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, North Africa region, and a total of 13 countries, i.e. Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda, the Philippines, and Thailand.
